Introduction to WorldChicago
Founded in 1952 as the Hospitality Center of Greater Chicago, WorldChicago is part of a network of community organizations throughout the nation that promotes citizen diplomacy through fostering international exchanges. We host international visitors, from youth to adult, and connect them with Chicago-area citizen diplomats who serve as dinner hosts, professional mentors, and other leaders in the public, private, nonprofit, and tech sectors.
Each international visitor leaves Chicago with new experiences, new connections and new knowledge that will help them in the future. Some of our past visitors and program participants have gone on to start social enterprises, become political leaders, and initiate business partnerships with their networks in Chicago. Since its founding in 1952, WorldChicago has hosted over 69,000 visitors from all over the world. In 2019, we facilitated 79 programs and hosted 691 visitors.
We engage with many of our visitors through the well respected and long standing programs of WorldChicago, including our Youth Leadership Program and The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
WorldChicago is now proud to support the U.S. Department of State in its implementation of the Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative (YTILI).
